After 10 years living in Mexico City, a place that carries so much of what we love, humanely, creatively and culturally, we had to launch our first Førs City Guide with the one that stole our hearts.

Círculo Mexicano
This sophisticated boutique hotel is in a renovated 19th century residential building designed by Ambrosi | Etchegaray architecture firm. It's located in the heart of Mexico City, where historic and contemporary Mexican culture melt together. Enjoy spectacular views of the Metropolitan Cathedral from your bedroom, or go on a morning stroll to check out the National Palace and the Aztec ruins, Templo Mayor.

Panadería Rosetta
Located in La Roma district near the historical centre of the city, this bakery is an extension of the popular Italian restaurant Rosetta. Chef Elena Reygadas is responsible for baking the delicious breads and pastries that make this place so worthwhile. Start your day off with chocolate caliente and orejas.


Niddo
This cozy breakfast and brunch spot is run by a mother and son duo. The food is inspired by places they've travelled to, like potato latkes, French brioches and babkas. You can enjoy watching your food being prepared right in front of you with their open kitchen.


Máximo Bistrot
Indulge in a daily-changing menu prepared with seasonal and local ingredients from in and around the city. Chef Eduardo 'Lalo' García and his wife Gabriela passionately craft flavourful dishes that highlights the natural delights of the country.

Galería Kurimanzutto
An old warehouse was redesigned by architect Alberto Kalach to house this gallery's main exhibition space. Here you can experience contemporary art created by 33 different international and Mexican artists, like Gabriel Orozco and Daniel Guzmán. Don't forget to check out the ever-changing temporary exhibitions.


Museo Casa Estudio Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo
Visit some of Mexico's most notable artists' home and studio, where you can see where they worked and the tools they used, as well as temporary exhibitions. The couple's home was designed by their friend, architect and muralist Juan O'Gorman. While visiting, take the opportunity to also see La Casa O'Gorman next door, which O'Gorman made for his father.


Mercado San Juan
Located in the historic centre of the city, this traditional Mexican market specializes in local and exotic ingredients. Head over first thing in the morning along with many of the city's chefs to browse all this market has to offer. Most notably, you can find unique meats such as alligator, wild boar and scorpions.


Casa Barragán
You can't miss one of the many masterpieces created by architect and engineer Luis Barragán. His personal house was acknowledged as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Admire all the details in the modern design which also houses paintings by Diego Rivera, Picasso and Chucho Reyes.


Museo Jumex
This museum exhibits one of the largest private contemporary art collections in all of Latin America, which includes the work of Andy Warhol, Damián Ortega and Marcel Duchamp. Nestled in between tall commercial buildings, the unique museum building was designed by David Chipperfield architects.

Finish a long day with late night snacks and drinks in this hidden gem. Chefs Andres Herran and Elizabeth Fraser combine local Mexican ingredients and Mediterranean flavours to create unique dishes. Don't skip out on a beautifully crafted cocktail.
